Oceanographic College originated from the Department of Aquaculture, School of Animal Science, South China Agricultural University. The College has two undergraduate majors: the post-doctoral mobile station of aquatic biology, the authorized point of doctoral degree of aquatic biology, the authorized store of master's degree of aquatic biology, the authorized point of master's degree of aquatic biology, the authorized point of master's degree of fishery development, aquaculture and marine science.Among them, "Aquaculture" is the characteristic specialty of South China Agricultural University and the training base of innovative talents in Guangdong Province."Reform and Practice of the Training Model of Innovative Aquatic Talents in Guangdong, Hong Kong and Macao Dawan District" and "Design and Application of Four Micro-one Classroom Teaching in Public Elective Courses in Colleges and Universities" won the school-level teaching achievement award, and "Aquatic Microbiology and Aquatic Animal Disease Experiment" was the school-level high-quality practical course.

The existing teaching and scientific research room covers an area of more than 3200 square meters, with more than 160 instruments and equipment, with a total value of nearly 20 million yuan.Guangdong Laboratory of Southern Marine Science and Engineering, Guangdong Provincial Science and Technology Innovation Center for Facilities Fisheries and Healthy Aquaculture, Guangdong Aquaculture Immunity and Healthy Aquaculture Engineering Technology Research Center, Guangdong Agricultural Department, Guangdong Modern Agricultural Industry Technology Research and Development Center and Ministry of Education, were successfully established and established.With the platform of "Guangdong-Hong Kong Joint Laboratory (Cultivation)", five distributed service stations of the New Rural Development Research Institute of the Ministry of Science and Technology of the Ministry of Education were obtained, and 12 teaching practice and talent training bases were built with leading enterprises and institutions in the aquatic industry.

The research directions of grouper rainbow virus vaccine development and large-scale preparation, immune prevention and control of cryptonucleosis in seawater fish and fish amino acid substitution feed are distinctive. A number of important achievements have been formed to fill the gap in China and international leaders, and technology transfer and industrial production and application have been realized.Over the past three years, more than 70 scientific research projects at or above the provincial and ministerial levels have been presided over, including national key R&D projects, projects of the National Natural Science Foundation, scientific and technological projects of Guangdong Province, and major projects of marine economic development in Guangdong Province, with a total expenditure of more than 50 million yuan.More than 100 SCI papers have been published, including one by the first author in Nature, 10 authorized invention patents and utility model patents, and 3 Guangdong Science and Technology Awards and Guangdong Agricultural Technology Extension Awards.

Based in South China, facing the whole country and radiating Southeast Asia, the College has established academic exchanges and cooperation with Hong Kong University of Science and Technology, Singapore National University, Taiwan University, Macao University and Prince Sonka University of Thailand.Taking the sustainable utilization of aquatic organisms as the research objective, the college grasps the growth and development of aquaculture animals and plants, artificial propagation, genetic breeding, nutritional feed, disease prevention and control and their relationship with the environment, so as to cultivate high-quality talents for the development of marine and fishery economy.
